A Dream Come True

A couple of days ago, I found out that a friend from high school realized a dream that she has had for several years.  She became a business owner.  She now owns a restaurant in Washington.  Why is this blog worthy you ask?  It's just another example of "rise".  Almost every rise takes a huge leap of faith.  Sometimes we just can't get beyond that initial step toward realizing a dream.  We've always been taught to take baby steps, but there are some things that take a little bit more.

Why the reluctance?  What stops us?  What causes us to stay in toxic relationships when we know we need to get out?  Why do we stay in jobs that bring us no fulfillment?  Why are we reluctant to evoke change where change is needed?  I wish I had the answer to all of these questions; or do I?  Let's face it, change can be a scary thing.

We need to ask ourselves if there is something that we want to do, but simply don't do it for whatever reason?

  1. When considering major changes in one's life, when going forward into the unknown or to a place that contains many variables,I believe we proceed with less fear when we are surrounded and supported by trusting friends, family and coworkers. It is our support systems that will help to guide us, rejoice with us, counsel us, discern with us and help us to see clearly when things get a bit foggy or downright black and our vision is impaired. For me, my faith and prayer life are the strongholds that I lean on and return to daily, especially when I am faced with difficult decisions. But even with all of that, moving towards our dreams takes a lot of courage, trust and humility...

  3. You are so right on.... Fear plays a big part in why people are not willing to change or chase their dreams. Fear of the unknown could be is paralyzing to some. Once we get past our fears and actually make the change and finally pursue our dreams, we often realize it was not as bad as we thought it would be.
Here is to all of us "Rising" to reach all of our dreams!
